On Tuesday afternoon, students from the Early Childhood Center’s summer program took to the sidewalk to sell baked goods as part of their community learning. Students in the program learn about the importance of being a good neighbor and helping the community they live in.

All funds raised from the bake sale go to community groups and causes, such as the Denmark Volunteer Fire Department and Community Cupboard in the past. Volunteers, parents and students with teacher supervision bake these local sweet treats.

More than $5,000 has been raised in the last four years of the annual sale, and this year the Denmark VFW will be receiving a portion of the funds raised. The money will also be invested in bikes for wheelchair-bound students; something special education teachers have asked for.
