The Denmark Lady Vikes varsity softball team played host to the Northeastern Conference’s best softball team on Tuesday, Freedom. The Lady Irish came into the match-up with an overall record of 15-2.
The Lady Vikes shocked the conference’s top team with superb pitching of sophomore Grace Nys, who allowed only four hits and two runs in the complete game victory. She struck out four.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, with the game tied 2-2, junior Taylor Ullman drove in
fellow junior Jayden Laurent from third base to win the game in walk-off fashion.
Ullman was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Lady Vikes.
Laurent was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Laurent took her base on balls to lead off the bottom of the seventh. Laurent stole second, before advancing to third base on a sacrifice bunt by senior Leah Hansen.
The Lady Vikes improved their record to 14-5 overall on the season, with an 8-5 record in conference play.

Denmark 2, Marinette 0
Dustin Dworak was 2-for-4 and Cole Paplham got the win on the mound to get the Vikings back on track on Tuesday. Paplham struck out four in the win.
Denmark 3, Valders 0
Karla Lopez had a pair of goals for the Lady Vikes in a non-conference home victory on Tuesday afternoon. Celia Kolarik also scored for Denmark, with an assist from fellow senior Elizabeth Bekkers. The Lady Vikes get back on track to win their second straight after their first loss of the season on Thursday.
