Sign of Progress

Denmark State Bank’s former Maribel location has a new look on its exterior, but the work done by Via Rail Engineering has been taking place in the village for more than two years.

Via Rail Engineering, a consulting engineering firm specializing in freight rail, has been located inside the building at 14727 Maribel Rd. working and keeping their eyes on various projects throughout Wisconsin. The firm helps coordinate multiple resources to construct railyards and connect to existing railways to transport goods throughout the country.

Via recently purchased the property and finalized the move by making their presence in the area more pronounced with a distinctive sign.

The firm has contributed to multiple high-level projects across the state, including a 600-car railyard for Superior Silica Sands in Barron County as well as projects for Country Visions Cooperative in Wrightstown and CP Feeds in Valders.

Branch manager Frank Heafy said the Via has employees in the Fox Valley, Green Bay and Manitowoc, saying that Maribel is a, “perfect central office,” though there is currently, “nothing of consequence” in the immediate vicinity in which the firm is involved.

“There’s always stuff in the works and we’re always keeping our eyes out for something new,” Heafy said.

The location is one of Via’s two offices, the other located in the Dallas-Forth Worth area dealing mainly with oil and gas projects.

Via Rail Engineering has been registered in Wisconsin since 2006.
