GREEN BAY — Brown County Library hosts a film viewing and community dialogue on the opioid crisis – the increasingly rapid use of prescription and non-prescription opioid drugs – a hidden yet growing problem throughout the nation at the Central Library, 515 Pine Street, downtown Green Bay on Tuesday, June 5, beginning at 6:15 pm in the lower level auditorium.
Straight Forward: The Truth about Addiction (50 min), a WisconsinEye documentary, focuses on opioid addiction and recovery in Wisconsin. It tells the story of several young Wisconsinites through their honest, in-depth interviews about getting started, hitting rock bottom and their journey through recovery. It is produced by Anthony Wood, director from Smoking Monkey Media and Skye Tikkanen, counselor at Connections Counseling. Also featured are parents of children living with addiction and a child whose mother died of an overdose. Following the film, a panel of local community experts will lead a discussion on this topic, including challenges, solutions and its effect on society. Questions are encouraged.
