Big plays lead to Denmark’s first win, head coach’s first head coaching victory

DENMARK – Jack Satori and Seth Alexander each scored a pair of touchdowns and Brandon Wavrunek added another and rushed for 170 yards and Denmark High School snapped a six-game losing streak with a 41-7 victory at winless Clintonville on Friday night.

The win was also the first head coaching victory for first-year Viking head coach Tom Neuman.

Denmark improved to 1-2 and travels to Fox Valley Lutheran next Friday.

Denmark hit on a series of big plays early to take a 27-0 lead just 11 seconds into the second period. Wavrunek scored on a 57-yard run, and Satori scampered 16 yards and Denmark led 14-0 midway through the first period. Satori scrambled for an 18-yard touchdown in the final minute of the period and it was 21-0 after Hailey Aschenbrenner’s third extra point.

The speedy Alexander found the corner for a 34-yard touchdown burst early in the second, then returned a kickoff 78 yards late in the half.

Ethan Schwartz tacked on the final touchdown with a one-yard plunge in the final period.
