State Wrestling: Live Updates from Madison

Thursday marks the opening round of the 76th Annual WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament. For some, that marks the end of the road. For others, it’s just the beginning.

Here are live updates for local athletes competing at the tournament.


  • Luxemburg-Casco’s Lucas Joniaux wins via pinfall over Mason Tylee of Amery with a second period pinfall.
  • Mishicot’s Kolton Tesarik won via decision, 11-7, over Athens’ Carter Brunke.
  • Three-time state champion Bryce Bosman of Luxemburg-Casco pinned G.E.T.’s Sam Johnson in the second period.

  • Mishicot’s Brant Cracraft won on a last second fall–literally–beating Phillips’ Hunter Bruhn at 5:59.
  • Ben Durocher, state runner-up last year, topped Braden Maertz of Kewaskum, 16-0.

  • Luxemburg-Casco’s three-time qualifier Nathan Ronsman won 3-1 over Colton Nicolay of Lodi.

  • The Spartans Colton Worachek followed that up with an intense ending in his opening round match, knocking off Ellsworth’s Cedric Kosnopfal, 4-2.
  • Wrightstown’s Quincy Klister won with a first round pinfall over Amaru Casas of Whitewater.
  • Kewaunee’s Travis Reinke won his opening round match, 6-2.
  • Kewaunee’s Paul Wery, Mishicot’s Frank Koeppel, and Wrightstown’s Ethan Witcpalek each lost their first round matches and were eliminated from the tournament.


  • Wrightstown’s Kaiden Koltz advanced to the 120-pound semifinals in D-2 after a 6-1 decision.
  • Lux-Casco’s Lucas Joniaux also punched his ticket to the 120-pound D-2 semifinal after a 16-7 major decision.
