WRIGHTSTOWN – Division 3’s top-ranked Wrightstown High School girls’ shrugged off a sluggish start and pulled away for a 64-50 victory over Fox  Valley Lutheran on Friday night to capture the regional championship.The Tigers, who won for the 23rd straight time following a season-opening loss, will take on Amherst, ranked third in the state, on Thursday in the first round of sectionals. Game time is 7 p.m.
Southern Door catches fire in second half to end Denmark girls' season
DENMARK – The Denmark High School girls gave second seed Southern Door all it wanted in the D3 regional semifinals on Friday night, but the Eagles found the range in the second half to pull away for a 48-29 victory, ending the Vikings season with an 11-13 mark.“I don’t think a lot of people expected us to win 11 games this year and finish tied for fifth in the NEC,” said Denmark head coach Kory Fredrikson.

Freedom holds off Denmark boys for 61-55 win
DENMARK – Denmark High School had no answer for 6-6 post player Luke Pingel and fell 61-55 to Freedom on Thursday night in Freedom.Pingel poured in 26 points and that was just enough to eclipse an outstanding game by Viking Zane Short, who scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, nabbed four steals, dished out three assists and blocked two shots. Brady Jens added 16 and Sam Sipiorski 10.
Polls Open, Despite Storm

Three candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court were on the ballot in a primary throughout the state. Some of our readers had the added intrigue of a three-way race for Brown County District 20.

Voter turnout numbers were provided by respective municipal clerks between 6 and 6:30 p.m. The Town of New Denmark's third ward was the only to include the Brown County race. Town of Glenmore ward one also voted for Brown County Supervisor.

Kwik Trip Details Under Review

DENMARK – Denmark hung with a tough Freedom squad for 30 minutes on Senior Night on Friday before the Irish ran off 14 straight points and held off the Vikings 60-49.Denmark led on two occasions by seven points in the first half, but a 9-0 Freedom run spanning the final minutes of the first half and opening minutes of the second half put the Vikings in a 36-31 hole.
Freedom defense shuts down high-powered Tigers in 70-54 win
WRIGHTSTOWN – The Wrightstown High School boys’ basketball team will have to wait at least one more game to claim a conference crown following a 70-54 loss at Freedom on Thursday night.The Irish (12-4) avenged an earlier nine-point loss to the Tigers (14-2). The setback, combined with Marinette’s cruise past Clintonville, whittled the Tigers’ lead to one game with two left. Wrightstown can claim at least a share of the league crown with a win at home against Waupaca on Monday.
