On Wednesday, May 31st, hundreds of friends and family gathered for a special ceremony honoring the achievements of some of the awesome young people in our community. That night, the Denmark Early Childhood Center (ECC) held their annual Kindergarten Graduation at the Performing Arts Center in the high school.

Last Sunday June 04, thousands of people from all across the area made their way to Collins Dairy near Wayside for a yearly tradition that is uniquely Wisconsin. That morning, Brown County Dairy Promotions hosted their annual Breakfast on the Farm at the dairy featuring a number of fun activities for all ages to enjoy.

New and exciting things are taking place at Lily Lake, located just off of Highway 29 in the Town of Eaton! Last Thursday representatives from Brown County and Kayak Wisconsin held a press event at the lake to announce their new partnership and what it means for visitors to the lake.

On Friday, May 26th, All Saints Catholic School hosted their annual 8th Grade Graduation during a special morning mass. That morning, the school’s students and staff were joined by the graduates' friends and family as well as community members who all gathered to congratulate the graduates and wish them luck in their new adventure of high school.

Last week, the congregation from Melnik Presbyterian Church welcomed a special guest to showcase their unique and storied history. For two days last week, the parish hosted Rev. Miroslav Pfann, a Protestant pastor from Libiš, which is a small town in the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic near the city of Mělník, the namesake for the town of Melnik, Wisconsin.

Last week Monday, Americans across the country observed Memorial Day by paying tribute to the fallen men and women who have served our great nation. In Denmark, this meant the annual services at area cemeteries put on by local veterans organizations.

Last weekend, Rookies Bar and Grill in Denmark hosted the first ever “Meoff Fest” at their tavern in Denmark. The three day event featured music, food, drinks and plenty of fun for all. The event served as an unofficial grand opening celebration for the famous bar under the new ownership of Jack St. Peter.

Last Friday, June 2nd, kindergarteners at Denmark Early Childhood Center (ECC) took part in a special giving tradition to mark the end of the school year. Along with all the other last day of school craziness, the 5k students and their teachers took the time to visit the Denmark Community Cupboard in Veterans Memorial Park to drop off hundreds of donations they have collected over the past three weeks. At 8:30 a.m.

In 1918, the village of Denmark had many reasons to celebrate. They had recently completed paving Main Street downtown with concrete. Residents completed a large service flag commemorating all of the 85 men who entered the service during World War I. The village also led all of the towns in Brown County in securing their entire allotment of Liberty bond subscriptions to support the war effort.

New and exciting things are taking shape in the Community Garden located behind Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark. Last week, significant renovations and upgrades were completed on the garden that will greatly change its focus, scope and impact. The Denmark News was on the scene to see what changes are in store for the project as well as to gain some added perspective on what the garden plans to offer.

On Wednesday May 24th at 1:30 p.m., Denmark Elementary school fifth graders and a select number of community members gathered at the Denmark Community Activity Center for a one-of-a-kind annual tradition. That afternoon, students from Julie Schultz's fifth grade class had the opportunity to meet their year-long pen pals in the culmination of an amazing program coordinated by the teacher for over two decades.

This week, now that spring has fully sprung, we thought it would be nice to highlight an awesome feature of the Denmark community and surrounding area that many may not be aware of. For those who do not know, the Devil's River State Trail is a 15-mile scenic trail that runs along the former railroad track bed.

Last Wednesday evening, Denmark High School's various artistic organizations held their annual Fine Arts Awards Banquet at Beverly Gardens just north of Denmark. That night, DHS staff, students and their families gathered in the dining hall for a special night meant to recognize the outstanding achievements made in the various artistic pursuits over the now-ending school year.

Next Sunday, June 11th, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark will be host to an unforgettable movie event for everyone to enjoy. That night at 6 p.m., the parish will be welcoming movie lovers of all ages to come to a special outdoor screening in their parking lot where they will be showing the Lion King (2019) on a massive 16-foot LED screen.

On Thursday, May 25th, Denmark Elementary hosted its annual Field Day for grades one through three to celebrate the end of the school year. This was the second ever Field Day after the event was created last year as something fun for the younger students to take part in while the fourth and fifth graders visited Bay Beach.
