Last week, Denmark High School (DHS) senior Franny Terrien was named one of the three winners of this year’s Kwik Trip Innovation Competition which tasks Wisconsin students with creating and presenting a marketing plan for a new product to be sold at Kwik Trip stores.

On March 29, Denmark sports history was made with the first-ever state title for a local female wrestler. That day, Haven Havlovitz was crowned a champion at this year’s Wisconsin Wrestling Federation (WWF) Kids Folkstyle State Tournament.

Our next entry in our Downtown Denmark: Past & Present series brings us to 204 Green Bay Road. The two-story tavern perched on the hill at the start of Green Bay Road has been wetting the whistles of patrons for over a century and currently hosts Rookies Bar & Grill.

The house his grandfather lived in that is referred to used to stand on North Wall Street on a site now used by United Cooperative as a parking lot. Women from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church have been crafting quilts which have been donated to numerous organizations and individuals including: Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Veterans of Upper Michigan and Wisconsin, Green Bay Veterans Manor, the Boys and Girls Club, a homeless shelter in Minnesota and graduating seniors from the congregation.

Last week, The Denmark News was alerted to a situation involving Denmark School District (DSD) employees experiencing fraud on their taxes with some believing the issue stems from January's cyber incident. We spoke with administration, staff and their families to learn more.

Next school year, students in the Denmark School District will be joined by some new four-legged friends as part of a new program aimed at improving multiple aspects of life at school.

On Saturday, hundreds flooded into the Northeast Asphalt gravel pit on County Highway BB near Cooperstown for this year’s Denmark Lions Consignment Auction. 

On Tuesday, Americans will head to the polls for this year’s spring elections. Locally, along with the school referendum, voters will be asked to fill one position on the Denmark School Board and three on the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees.

On Sunday, the gold gymnasium and atrium at Denmark High School (DHS) were overflowing both with people and artistic talent as the middle and high school art departments and bands came together for this year's Band Extravaganza and Art Show.

With Easter this coming Sunday, families across the nation will be out and about this weekend looking for their own stash of colorful Easter eggs. Locally, five organizations are getting in on the egg hunting action with plenty of fun and candy to go around.

The O.H. Schultz Mishicot Elementary School is currently conducting a service project called #FillEveryShelf. The project is the first phase of a much larger-scale objective. The goal is to collect exciting, imaginative fiction books and place them in the hands of eager second graders who are ready to learn!

Families in Mishicot can look forward to a fun-filled and festive morning as the Mishicot Business Association (MBA) teams up with Mishicot FFA to host a communitywide Easter Egg Hunt at O.H. Schultz Elementary School.
