Cooperstown government to shrink

On Tuesday, May 9th, the Town of Cooperstown held their monthly board meeting at their Town Hall in Rosecrans. While the meeting included the usual reports from town officials and discussion and action on regular business, it also featured the board adopting a significant change to its structure that will greatly impact how it governs in the future.

Road construction update

With the weather finally turning nice this past week, large amounts of progress were made on the various road construction projects throughout the Village of Denmark while some new ones have begun just outside its borders. All week crews were hard at work across the area fixing and replacing roads as well as undertaking various improvement projects.

Eaton Rummage Sales

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 11, 12 and 13, the Town of Eaton held their annual “Regional Rummage Sale” across the township. Throughout the town, there were 27 listed sales with a variety of “treasures” for bargain hunters to peruse. Unlike Maribel two weeks earlier and Denmark the week before, the sellers of Eaton were treated to dry and seasonable weather that helped bring out shoppers.

Maribel May Meeting

Last Monday, May 8th, the Village Board of Maribel held their monthly meeting at their community center in the village park. At this meeting, attended by the Maribel government and five community members, the board heard updates and acted upon several important issues.

St. James Fun & Faith 2023

With summer soon upon us, volunteers at St. James Catholic Church are already hard at work preparing for an eventful week full of fun and learning for children this July. This year's "Fun & Faith" vacation bible school will take place at the church this July 17-21 and will feature a wide array of activities aimed at aiding children in their faith journey while also having some good old fashioned fun.

Last week, Denmark area resident and community fixture, Carl Nelson was recognized for his outstanding charitable work in an article for the Green Bay Catholic Diocese newspaper, the Compass. The article, published May 08, gives a brief overview of all the volunteer work Carl puts in as well as his reasoning for doing so.

Village of Denmark May meeting

The Village of Denmark Board of Trustees held their first meeting at their new Village Hall last week. After the approval of the previous meeting's minutes and the month's expenditures, monthly reports from various village officials were discussed starting with the monthly police report from Directed Enforcement Officer J.J. Rusk.

However you honor your mother, the opportunity to truly make much of her is this Sunday. Mother’s Day is the holiday that’s dedicated to the special women in our lives; the ones who raised us, loved us, and continuously put us first.

32nd Annual Denmark Rummage Sales

This past weekend, on May 05 and 06, the Denmark community hosted the 32nd Annual Denmark Village-Wide Rummage Sale,  sponsored by the Denmark Community Business Association (DCBA). This year's sales featured over 90 registered sellers throughout the village and surrounding community and, despite the rainy weather, brought in thousands of bargain hunters from across the area and beyond.

All Saints walk-a-thon

Last Friday, May 5th, the students of All Saints Catholic School in Denmark held a fun event for a great cause. That afternoon, all the students at the school took part in a special walk-a-thon after raising funds for the school’s Home and School Association. By writing letters to their friends and families, the students were able to raise nearly $2,500 in pledges.

Black Frog Farm Open House

Last week Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 05, 06 and 07, Black Frog Farm in Maribel held an open house event to give anyone interested an inside look at their one-of-a-kind farm. Black Frog Farm, located on the western side of the Village of Maribel, is home to a variety of animals not found on your “typical” family farm.

City of Angels takes the sage in Manitowoc this weekend

This weekend, the stage is set for a one-of-a-kind performance at the Capitol Civic Center in Manitowoc. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, The Masquers will be staging the Broadway hit "City of Angels" at the historic theater in what is sure to be an amazing and memorable show for all who attend. 

Eaton May meeting

Last Tuesday, May 2, the Eaton Town Board held their monthly meeting for May at their town hall and community center in Poland. The meeting was attended by all members of the town government as well as roughly fifteen other community members.

Remembering Rev. Frank A. Tobisch

Many residents of Denmark were saddened to hear news of the passing of Rev. Frank A. Tobisch on Friday, April 28. Tobisch is probably best remembered in the Denmark community for his years of service for Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he served as Pastor for over two decades from 1967 until his retirement in 1988.
