DES students commemorate Earth Day

Springing into the season with TA Motorsports

For this year’s The Denmark News Spring Home & Garden section, we teamed up with a local lawn and garden and motorsports expert just to our south. For decades now, TA Motorsports has been serving the motorized recreation and landscaping needs of the greater area from their home base in Francis Creek. Last week, we spoke with TA’s Rich Rothmund to learn more about all they have to offer.

DSD staff speak out

During last Monday’s Denmark School Board meeting, multiple district staff members utilized the proceeding’s Public Forum portion to raise concerns about the handling of the recent data breach that has reportedly resulted in numerous employees experiencing identity fraud.

The flood of 26

Last week, much of Wisconsin, and the midwest as a whole, was inundated with excessive rainfall and stormy conditions that led to high water and flooding in numerous locations. 

Spring play this weekend

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center (PAC) will be the site of chaos and hilarity as this year’s spring play takes the stage for three performances. “Play On!” by Rick Abbot will leave audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter as they watch a dysfunctional fictional theater troupe attempt to stage a doomed production. 

Prom 2026

Congratulations to the 2026 DHS Prom King Donald Ledden and Queen Lily Kapinos! The royal couple were crowned by 2025 Prom King Tynan Conway and Queen Ella Ovsak and ruled over Saturday night’s dance in the school atrium with their court.

Scouting for Food 2026

On Saturday, Denmark Boy Scout Troop 1052 teamed up with fellow youth from the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Leos for this year’s “Scouting for Food: Spring Edition”. Along with some adult volunteers, they collected non-perishable food items from across the Village and helped restock the Denmark Community Cupboard’s shelves for the season.

Treble Makers 2026

Last Tuesday, the Denmark Treble Makers took the stage for their annual concert to a packed house in the DHS PAC. Led by Director Tammy Carley and assisted by Donna McMonagle, the young singers performed a variety of fun songs including “Raining Tacos”, “Green Eggs and Ham” and “TONGO”. United Way and YWCA stop by Denmark

Last Tuesday, Denmark had some helpful visitors at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church aimed at reaching rural residents and providing their services to them.

Village board approves sex offender residency

Prior to their regular monthly meeting last Monday, the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees convened the municipal Sex Offender Registry Appeals Board to address a residency request within the Village. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic and out of concern for their family, we have elected to not include the name of the applicant or the address in question in this article.

During last week’s Village of Denmark Board of Trustees meeting, three local citizens were officially presented with Community Service Awards for their kindness and care during last month’s historic blizzard. Cooperstown board discusses road projects

During last week’s Town of Cooperstown monthly board meeting, 2026 road projects were a major topic of discussion. Prior to the meeting, board members had taken part in this year’s Road Review to determine which stretches of municipal roadway were most deserving of attention. They presented their findings with a five-year projected timeline in a handout included in the meeting’s packet.

Mishicot - Mishicot unerwater

The Village of Mishicot experienced one of the greatest floods in years. With the rainstorm and thunderstorms in the early week of April 12-18, the East Twin River, along with Main Street and Washington, was flooded to the point where cars were not able to pass through. The Village of Mishicot was awarded a Public Safety Notice by Police Chief Granger to ensure the safety of individuals was well monitored. 

Mishicot - Mishicot softball looks to build on championship legacy in new season

Last season was one for the record books for the Mishicot High School softball program. The Indians captured the Division 4 State Softball Championship, marking just the second state title in school history and cementing their place among the top teams in Wisconsin.
