A Holiday Tradition Bringing Mishicot Together

On December 6, Mishicot held one of its most beloved traditions, Christmas in the Village, now celebrating its 16th year of holiday magic, community spirit, and small-town charm. What started over a decade and a half ago has grown and transformed, but its main purpose remains the same: to welcome community members and visitors into our local businesses and show off everything Mishicot has to offer. This festive event gives families and friends the chance to step inside local shops, meet business owners and staff, and discover hidden gems they may have never noticed before. It’s all about connection, celebration, and supporting the businesses that make Mishicot special.

Christmas in the Village draws a big crowd and even bigger cheer. Depending on the weather, each year, organizers expect 800–1,000 people to join the fun. With so much happening across the village, it’s no surprise! Activities, crafts, food, and entertainment were spread throughout the village.

Behind the scenes of Christmas in the Village are months of planning. Planning kicks off at the end of October for the Mishicot Business Association, while the Mistletoe Faire often begins gathering vendors even earlier. This huge undertaking is made possible by the MBA’s 23 business members who team up with Stark Ministries, the organizers of the Mistletoe Craft Faire, to promote and coordinate the festivities.

Community effort, community heart. The dedication of local businesses plays a huge role in making Christmas in the Village shine. Each business hosts its own activities, creates a welcoming space for families, and donates raffle baskets, and volunteers from the School District of Mishicot lend a hand wherever extra help is needed. This year also featured an exciting new addition: Mishicot High School’s Career and Technical Education students showcased their school-based businesses, giving them a chance to share their hard work and creativity with the community.

A boost for local economy and local joy beyond the holiday fun, Christmas in the Village has a meaningful impact. The MBA hopes the event helps stimulate the local economy by drawing attention to businesses both old and new. When people discover a shop they love during the event, they’re more likely to return later—and that support helps keep Mishicot thriving. Organizer Allison Butler states, “We hope families take home joys, more than anything we want families to enjoy a low-cost, joy-filled day of activities, memories, and holiday spirit.” It’s a chance for everyone--kids, teens, parents, and grandparents--to slow down, have fun, and celebrate what makes this community so special.
