Freedom's late surge squelches Viking girls' upset bid

DENMARK – Denmark hung with a tough Freedom squad for 30 minutes on Senior Night on Friday before the Irish ran off 14 straight points and held off the Vikings 60-49.Denmark led on two occasions by seven points in the first half, but a 9-0 Freedom run spanning the final minutes of the first half and opening minutes of the second half put the Vikings in a 36-31 hole.
Freedom defense shuts down high-powered Tigers in 70-54 win
WRIGHTSTOWN – The Wrightstown High School boys’ basketball team will have to wait at least one more game to claim a conference crown following a 70-54 loss at Freedom on Thursday night.The Irish (12-4) avenged an earlier nine-point loss to the Tigers (14-2). The setback, combined with Marinette’s cruise past Clintonville, whittled the Tigers’ lead to one game with two left. Wrightstown can claim at least a share of the league crown with a win at home against Waupaca on Monday.

Bob had two brothers and sisters, one of whom passed away before him.Bob graduated from Denmark High School in 1939. He enlisted into the Army at the age of 23 and was deployed into WWII in 1944 and served for 22 months.

DENMARK – The Denmark High School had no answer for Jacob Poetzl in the first half nor for Matt Wagner in the second and suffered a critical 63-58 loss to first-place Marinette in North Eastern Conference action on Friday night in Denmark.Poetzl poured in 18 of his 26 before halftime, while Wagner, the Marines’ top scorer scored 13 of his 17 in the second half, just enough to stave off a Viking rally from 11 down.Brady Jens erupted for 22 points for Denmark, whose 5-game winning streak ended.
