HOLLAND — Southern Brown County is slated to be the host for an anaerobic digestion system for dairy manure after the Public Service Commission preliminarily approved $15 million for BC Organics, LLC—a 27-member consortium—to receive waste from nine farms which combine for nearly 23,000 animals in a $57.5 million project.

MADISON — When one-third of Kewaunee County’s private wells tested positive for bacterial contamination in 2014, some pointed to a massive cattle population and others pointed to faulty septic systems. Ongoing study has linked manure from Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) to the county’s polluted groundwater and has influenced proposed revisions to the Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) manure spreading requirements.

Shirley Wind meeting draws heat,future study still in the air

SUAMICO — Roughly one quarter of the seats in the Bay Port Performing Arts Center were filled on Tuesday night for four presenters in a special joint meeting of the Brown County Board of Health and the Brown County Human Services Committee relating to ongoing issues at the Shirley Wind Farm.

CBS News recently reported that nearly 100% of Icelandic mothers opt to terminate their pregnancy after their children are prenatally tested for Down Syndrome. In the very near future, Down Syndrome may be eliminated from Iceland entirely. As parents of an amazing adult with Downs, please allow us a chance to give a little insight as to why this may be happening.
