DENMARK - Russell Jacob Schlies, 80, Denmark,
passed away peacefully on Thursday, December
22, 2022, in Green Bay. Dad’s favorite holiday was
Christmas, making this a bittersweet, yet perfect
time for him to take a ride and head for home.

Our dad was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Fri-
day, February 13,1942 to Jacob and Emily (Mleziva)

Laurine B. Lancelle, age 97, of Denmark, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2022. She was born on February 5, 1925 in the Town of Glenmore to Alfred and Katie (Ronk) Rasmussen. Laurine and Omar "OJ" Lancelle were married February 18, 1950 in Denmark. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1996. 

Marian Louise Rhodes, age 87, of Denmark, passed away January 15, 2023 at her home. The
daughter of the late Frank and Effa (Schoch) Cowdin was born April 29, 1935 in Oxford, MI. On
November 6, 1954, she married Elmer Rhodes in Lake Orion, MI. She was an active member of
the Zion United Methodist Church in Denmark. Marian was a member of a homemakers group,
and enjoyed being in a card club with her friends for over 50 years. She worked for a home

Martha Van Oss, age 96, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023. The daughter of the late Henry and
Elizabeth (Baeten) Liebergen was born August 23, 1926, in the town of Holland.
She married Jerome Van Oss September 4, 1944, at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Wrightstown. The
couple farmed in the Denmark area for over 40 years. Jerome passed away November 2, 2003, after 59
years of marriage.

Mathew John Schweiner, age 92, of Denmark, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at his home. 

Richard “Dick” Selner, 74, of Denmark, passed away at his home on Saturday,
November 26, 2022. Dick was born May 16, 1948, to the late Louis and Mary (Jisa)
Selner in Green Bay. On June 10, 1972, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth
Schweiner. This union of fifty years blessed them with two children, Troy and
Tracey.
Dick was a lifelong farmer and avid hunter. He enjoyed his Sunday truck rides to

Beverly Jane Goulder, age 86, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2022 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on April 18, 1936 in Plymouth, WI, a daughter of the late Clifford and Bernice (DeTroye) Johnson.

Robert Wayne Sandberg, 81, of Denmark WI passed away into the hands of God on October 31, 2022 surrounded by his loving family in his home.

Ronald Cattelan of Denmark, WI, a man of many interests and talents, passed away on Sunday October 30, 2022. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 15, 1938 to the late Fred and Marie Cattelan. He graduated from Norway, MI High School in 1956 and immediately entered the Air Force for four years. In 1963, he graduated from Northern Michigan University and later received his MA from the University of WI Oshkosh. He taught art at Preble Jr.

Josephine “Joanne” Leiterman, age 89, of Denmark, passed away October 23, 2022, surrounded by her family and was reunited with her husband Leonard. The daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Graycarek) Cisler was born July 7, 1933, in Stangleville, WI. She worked for 30 years and retired from Brown County Publishing. Joanne enjoyed time spent with family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends.

Carol A. Hansen, age 79, of Denmark, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23, 2022. The daughter of the late Earl and Valborg Benecke was born December 18, 1942. She married Keith Hansen on June 30, 1962 and he preceded her in death. Carol graduated from Denmark High School and went on to attend business school. For over 50 years she was an Avon Representative, and never actually retired. 

Josephine “Joanne” Leiterman, age 89, of Denmark, passed away October 23, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark on Thursday, October 27, from 10:00am until 11:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Fr. Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.

The Denmark News, as well as the community as a whole, was sad to hear the news of the passing of long-time Denmark School educator and fixture of the Denmark Community, Dennis Graham. Many readers will remember being taught by Mr. Graham over his 30 years of service to the Denmark School District, and he will certainly be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

GREEN BAY – Patricia J. Rasmussen, an award-winning reporter and columnist who worked for multiple publications across Brown and Door counties during a 33-year career in journalism, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, after a decade-long battle with dementia.
