On Friday, hundreds of people gathered at Gatherings 43 for a special event aimed at increasing awareness about resources available to the elderly and disabled. That morning, Denmark Connects hosted their first-ever Supporting Aging & Caregivers Luncheon featuring representatives from seven area agencies sharing information about what resources and services they provide. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.
Anyone interested in learning more about resources available in the area were invited to join together at Gatherings 43 on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until noon. When they arrived, they were asked to register before answering a brief survey about their gifts and interests. Attendees could then meet with representatives of each of the agencies featured at the event who were stationed at a long line of tables with handouts and examples of their services and products.
Shortly after 10:15 a.m., Denmark Connects Campaign Manager Molly Arneson addressed the crowd, welcoming all and thanking them for joining. Attendees then heard from representatives from the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Brown County, Options for Independent Living, Curative Connections, NeighborWorks Green Bay, the Denmark Community Activity Center, the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging and Denmark Connects. Each speaker briefly went over what their organization provides and how they could be of use to elderly and disabled people throughout the community.
Once the speakers had concluded, attendees were asked to discuss with their tables and write down challenges, successes and questions they had when it came to caregiving. Attendees then enjoyed a complimentary chicken lunch with all the fixings.
