Something new and exciting is coming to Francis Creek that is sure to be a hit with sweet-tooths of all ages. This week, On a Whim Sweet Treats will be opening in downtown Francis Creek in what formally was Animal's Pizza and was more recently Julia's Kitchen across the street from St. Anne Catholic Church.

On Monday, November 28, the Denmark Village Board was presented with the first draft of their "Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan" (CORP) by Jeffrey Sanders, the village's hired community planning consultant.

Last Saturday, December 3, the Denmark area was visited by a famous man from the North Pole. That's right, Santa Claus himself was in town last weekend to hear what area children wanted for Christmas and to check up on their behavior over the past year. Mr. Kringle was nice enough to take time out of his busy schedule to visit two very special events in the community.

Of all the different groups and organizations that help serve the underprivileged and needy in our community, many of you have probably not heard of Viking Shield. However, this organization provides an amazing and vital service to our community. Last week, we talked with three of the leaders behind Viking Shield to get some information on the group as well as some perspective on the amazing work they do.

On Sunday, November 27, the Village of Denmark was transformed into a festive holiday wonderland for shoppers from across the area. On that day, five different local businesses and organizations hosted their own seasonal sale at five very different locations. Each one added their own unique charm to the experience and made for a one-of-a-kind holiday adventure.

As cars and driving changed and innovated throughout the 20th Century, so too did the
construction of highways. When the first state highway system was implemented in Wisconsin,
State Highway 16 traveled from Green Bay to Manitowoc, passing through the central part of
Denmark on a route consisting of Green Bay Road, Main Street, and Wisconsin Avenue.

Among the many holiday traditions that make the Denmark area great, one community favorite was sadly missing for yet another year. Many people throughout the community were saddened to hear that the Denmark Community Thanksgiving Dinner was canceled again for the third year in a row.

Next Sunday, December 4, 2022, Gatherings 43, behind Degrand's Family Restaurant in Denmark will be the sight of a one of a kind holiday performance. Let Me Be Frank Productions will be staging "The Wake of Johnny Blood in the hall in a special dinner show that's got music, laughs and Green Bay football legends. The performance also features the talents of two local talents.

Last Saturday, November 26 2022, the quiet town of Tisch Mills hosted a holiday community event unlike any other.

The second annual "Jingle & Mingle" holiday craft show and open house was an undisputable success with hundreds of Christmas shoppers descending on the small village.

Last week The Mill Art Center on Broadway Street in Denmark held its annual holiday craft sale. "The Holiday Sale", which is in its sixth year at the Mill Art Center and has a thirty plus year history in the area, featured over fifty area artists whose creations were available to peruse and purchase throughout the first floor of the art studio.

Last Wednesday, on the night before Thanksgiving, DD's Saloon in Denmark welcomed the rock band Bad Habitz to the stage for a special "Blackout Wednesday" concert.

The busy Thanksgiving week can be especially hectic for businesses that provide the festive fare for our annual dinners. On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, we paid a visit to Jennifer Treu, owner and operator of Ampersand Cake Company in downtown Denmark.

Jennifer and her staff were, as expected, busy preparing the holiday treats, but she was kind enough to talk with us for a few minutes about her new, Thanksgiving themed, product.

Last Wednesday, Denmark Sting Cancer held a special spaghetti dinner for cancer survivors and their families in the Denmark area. The event was held in the multipurpose room of the high school and featured delicious pastas, soups, and salads from Olive Garden, as well as an array of homemade sweet treats to enjoy. 

Last week, the Denmark School District was proud to announce that they have been selected to receive two large grants for improvements to be made to their learning environments. Over the past years, the district has worked very hard to find and apply for any and all grant or donation opportunities they qualify for.
