The Denmark High School Band had another amazing experience down in Milwaukee at the Bucks game last week. The band had the privilege to be selected as a “Bucks Band” ensemble for the second year in a row. The band got to play some of our favorite pep band tunes courtside during the warmup period, entertaining both the players and spectators. The performance was awesome! This year the Denmark High School Choir was also chosen to sing the National Anthem.

Last Friday, students at Denmark High School had an opportunity for a sweet treat for a good cause. That afternoon, the DHS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) hosted their second annual "Cookie Cook-Off" contest.

On Thursday, February 2, the Denmark School's Music Program will host a special "Nashville Showcase" fundraiser concert at the Performing Arts Center at the high school. The event, which will raise funds for the various music programs in the district, will feature three outstanding musicians from across the country who specialize in the "Nashville sound".

Throughout December and January, the newly founded Denmark Artists Guild, in partnership with the pop-up coffee shop, Inspired Spaces, and the community building organization, OneDenmark, held a number of fun and free events at the former BMO Harris bank building in downtown Denmark. These events were each centered around a different artistic project taught by Denmark native, Elizabeth Zoerb.

If you were driving down Maribel Road just north of Denmark last Wednesday, you would have been greeted by a sight you truly do not see everyday; a large farmhouse making its careful way down the hilly and twisting road on the back of a flat-bed truck. 

Last fall, we told you about the brand new Denmark community pickleball league organized by OneDenmark. Since then, the free and open to all league has taken off, and dozens of eager players of all ages and skill levels have been flocking to each of the open-court events since.

Last Tuesday, at their monthly meeting, the Denmark Knights of Columbus - Father Platta Council #4735 presented a check to a worthy recipient.

A few months ago, we told you the story of Inspired Grounds, the free community café born of two Denmark High School students’ vision of a fun and free place for community members to gather and socialize.

If you were looking to satisfy a craving for Burger King in the Maribel area this weekend, you would have been sadly disappointed.

I believe the United States is not only the greatest country on Earth, but the greatest civilization ever formed in the history of mankind. But I don’t think I’m alone in my thinking that as of late, there’s been a serious divide in our beautiful country.

On Sunday, November 27, the Village of Denmark was transformed into a festive holiday wonderland for shoppers from across the area. On that day, five different local businesses and organizations hosted their own seasonal sale at five very different locations. Each one added their own unique charm to the experience and made for a one-of-a-kind holiday adventure.

The stage is set, the cast is ready and the orchestra is fine tuned. All the necessary elements have come together and are prepared for what is sure to be a sensational performance.

Last Saturday from noon to two, the Denmark Middle School Parking lot was transformed into a Halloween wonderland with mountains of treats from a wide variety of “trunks” for hundreds of children from across the area and beyond.

On Tuesday, September 6th, the Denmark Planning Commission assembled at Village Hall for a special meeting on a very important issue for the town.

A lot can happen over the course of a weekend. 

For the long-standing customers of Denmark State Bank, closed doors over the past couple of days meant change. Positive change.
