On April 16, it was announced that All Saints Catholic School in Denmark would be closing its doors on July 1 after nearly seven decades in operation. This decision left many parishioners, families and community members shocked and wondering what had caused it. To address this, the parish hosted a special Town Hall Meeting last Wednesday to state their case. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

Last Monday, the Town of Glenmore hosted their regular monthly board meeting. This was the first official meeting presided over by the newly-elected board members and staff who assumed their positions last month.

Last weekend, the streets of the Village of Denmark were filled with swarms of people taking part in a beloved spring tradition. On Friday and Saturday, the community hosted the 34th Annual Village-Wide Rummage Sale sponsored by the DCBA featuring over 100 vendors selling a wide variety of items.

Last month, Denmark area residents gained a new option for their internet service needs. On April 17, Bug Tussel announced a new wireless internet tower had been brought online in the community of Buckman located just north of Fontenoy on County Highway P. The company states their new tower will bring area residents expanded options for high-speed internet service and has the potential to provide service for nearly 700 homes and businesses.

Last weekend, animal lovers of all ages had an opportunity to get a firsthand look at an unconventional type of farm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Maribel’s Black Frog Farm opened their gates for another annual Open House weekend featuring self-guided tours, a chance to interact with a variety of animals and fun for all. The Denmark News stopped by on Sunday to see what’s new down on the farm.

Last week, many across the Denmark community were saddened to hear of the passing of longtime community fixture Kenneth “Kenny” Peterson on April 28. Peterson was a lifelong resident of Denmark and served the community in a variety of ways throughout his life. He was 82.

On Thursday, a number of Denmark Middle School (DMS) students took some time to share their gratitude and appreciation for their head administrator. That morning, the DMS Student Council and National Junior Honor Society celebrated Principal Ashley Post with a special breakfast in observance of National Principal’s Day.

Last month, students from Denmark High School (DHS) partnered with the American Red Cross for an annual life-saving initiative. In April, the DHS Student Council hosted their annual blood drive in the school’s multi-purpose room with dozens of fellow students and community members contributing to their efforts. The student council were thrilled to report they were able to collect a total of 46 pints of blood.

Last Monday, students from Denmark Middle School (DMS) and Denmark High School (DHS) took to the DHS Performing Arts Center stage for a special concert showcasing a unique style of musical talent. That night, the DMS and DHS Jazz Bands came together for their annual spring concert featuring a variety of toe-tapping tunes that captivated their audience.

On April 16, many across the Denmark area and beyond were deeply saddened to hear the news of the closing of All Saints School after 67 years of serving the community with Catholic education. On Friday, while the City of Green Bay was being enveloped from all sides by this year's NFL Draft, a local chef and several helpers were representing a Denmark non-profit in a competition that was uniquely Wisconsin. That day, Paul Lancelle and his team crafted his famous booyah recipe on behalf of the Denmark Community Cupboard as one of 13 competitors in the first ever Green Bay Booyah Battle.

Last weekend, hundreds upon hundreds of bargain hunters, collectors and curiosity seekers descended on the small community of Maribel for an annual spring shopping tradition. On Friday and Saturday, the municipality was host to their 31st annual Village Wide Rummage Sale with 35 registered vendors selling a wide array of used goods.
