Last Tuesday, February 28, DeGrand Family Restaurant in Denmark marked a special milestone. All day, from 6 am to 7 pm, they commemorated their twelfth anniversary in business with specials on their amazing food, all incorporating the number 12, as well as a balloon artist.

This April, as residents of the Township of Cooperstown fill out their Spring Election ballots, three very important open seats will have no one listed running for them. Over the last year, three members of the board, Mike Albers, Bill Enz and Town Chairman, Dave Blakeslee, have all announced that they will not be seeking re-election for their respective seats.

Along with approving the recommended changes to the Zoning Ordinance, the Village Board addressed several other time-sensitive issues at their special meeting last Wednesday evening.

Last Wednesday, March 1st, the Denmark Village Board held a special meeting at Village Hall where several changes to the Village Zoning Ordinance were brought before the board. Prior to the special meeting at 5:00 pm, a public hearing and special meeting of the Village Planning Commission took place to finalize the amendments they would recommend to the board.

This year, several Denmark High School Students have been taking part in a new, fun and unique class project designed to not only grow their skills, but also inform and educate their fellow students.

Denmark sports legend lives quieter life after MLB stint

Last Tuesday night, members of the Denmark and Maribel Lions Clubs came together for a long-standing tradition. The two clubs met for a special dinner meeting held at Suster's in Denmark. The joint meeting, which takes place every year, is a chance for the two clubs to collaborate and find ways they can better serve the community together.

At this year's "Taste of Brown County", two Denmark area businesses were recognized for their outstanding products. Ampersand Bakery, which has been providing unique and delicious sweet treats from their shop in downtown Denmark, and Duck Creek Winery and Vineyard which has been crafting fine wines and spirits just north of Denmark both walked away with the top award in their respective categories.

Last weekend, Cassie's Coop on county NN just southwest of Denmark, was home to a truly one-of-a-kind annual event for a great cause. On Saturday and Sunday, Cassie and her staff hosted the "38th Annual CP Blindman's Volleyball Tournament" at the small-town bar. The tournament, which draws hundreds every year, is a fundraiser for Green Bay's CP Center and their various programs.

For the last nine years, several Denmark High School students have been competing in the Wisconsin Forensic Coaches Association, a more competitive and wide-ranged alternative to the standard Wisconsin High School Forensics Association League. These students have found great success in competitions across the state and country, taking home an extensive list of individual and team awards.

Last Monday evening, the Denmark High School Performing Arts Center was host to a unique and fun tradition to support a great cause. That night, the Denmark FFA hosted their annual "Worker and Pie Auction", to raise funds for the chapter and its community efforts.

The dominating story that affected readers last week was the onslaught of winter weather brought about by Winter Storm Delilah. For almost 24 hours, the vicious storm ripped across the area, dumping nearly a foot of snow and leaving many unable to travel.

In the 1980s, Milprint Inc. was expanding, and they were searching for a new production facility. At the time, they leased four floors in the Nicolet Paper Company facility in De Pere, but they needed a dedicated space of their own. After an extensive search, Milprint decided to stay in the area and construct a brand new facility in the new business park at the corner of Woodrow Street and North Avenue in Denmark.
