49th Annual Denmark Lions Poinsettia Sale

On Sunday, November 26, the Denmark Lions Club hosted an annual event that, for many, has become the traditional holiday kick-off year after year. That day, the organization hosted their 49th Annual Poinsettia Sale in the large gymnasium and atrium at Denmark High School. The yearly sale is both a great fundraiser for the club as well as a way to spread some Christmas cheer throughout the community.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner returns

This Thanksgiving saw the much-anticipated return of a beloved and thoughtful event to the Denmark community. Last Thursday morning, one and all were invited to the cafeteria at Denmark High School for a free holiday feast for everyone to enjoy.

New roads open in Denmark

One of the few positive effects of the weather getting steadily colder is the end of most road construction projects throughout the reading area. All over, the dreaded barricades and orange barrels are disappearing and newly repaired or rebuilt roads are opening for motorists.

Maribel November Meeting

On Monday, November 13, the Maribel Village Board held their monthly meeting in their Community Center in the Village park. After the call to order by President Dan Fels, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Roll Call that showed all members in attendance, the board unanimously approved the evening's agenda as well as last month's minutes, the Treasurer's Report and the vouchers for November.

Cooperstown November Meeting

Last Tuesday, the Town of Cooperstown held their monthly board meeting at their Town Hall in Rosecrans. Prior to the regular monthly meeting, the board hosted a series of procedural hearings and special meetings. First, at 6:30 p.m., they convened a Public Hearing relating to their proposed hauling and weight limit permits.

November School Board Meeting

On Monday, November 13, the School District of Denmark held their monthly board meeting in the Media Center of the High School.

Village of Denmark November Meeting

Last Monday afternoon, the Village of Denmark held their monthly board meeting at their new Village Hall in the former BMO Harris Bank building. Following the call to order by Village President Susan Selner, the Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call that showed all members and staff in attendance, the board opened the floor to pre-registered citizens to be heard.

Hermans Heating helps others "Feel the Love"

It has often been said that one of the things that makes small communities like Denmark stand out is the ability for its people to come together and help one another. Whenever one of our own falls on hard times or experiences tragedy, kind and dedicated individuals and groups rise to the occasion and find ways to help to the best of their abilities.

Celebrating Veterans Day at DHS

The third and final observance of this year's Veterans Day in the Denmark School District came mid-Monday morning at Denmark High School. Immediately following the fantastic program at the elementary school, visiting veterans and their families were invited to make their way to the high school for their annual observance of Veterans Day.

DES Veterans Program

Last week, the Denmark School District continued their observance of Veterans Day with two more ceremonies honoring all of those who have served our nation. Following the previous Friday's outstanding program at the middle school, area veterans and their families were welcome to two back-to-back ceremonies on Monday morning first at the elementary then the high school.

Duck Creek celebrates 10 years

This weekend, Duck Creek Winery & Vineyard will be hosting an "Anniversary Bash" ten years in the making. The two day event will be a two-day celebration for the ages marking a decade of business in the Denmark community. 

Hotel breaks ground

On Friday, November 17, a ceremony was held that has exciting implications for the Village of Denmark. That morning, dozens gathered under a small tent on a newly-leveled lot on Bohemia Drive behind Kwik Trip on the Village's southwest side for the official groundbreaking of the long-anticipated hotel.

Veterans Day Banquet

Last Saturday, members of the Denmark VFW Post #6705 and American Legion Johnson-Hershman Post #363 came together for an annual tradition commemorating all those who have served our nation.

All Saints hosts Mass for veterans

Last Friday, prior to the Veterans Program at Denmark Middle School (see page 1), All Saints Catholic Church and School hosted their own event to pay tribute to our nation's veterans. 

Artistry in Wood Show and Sale

Last weekend, the Northeast Wisconsin Woodworkers Guild descended on Denmark High School and transformed the large gymnasium and atrium on the building's east side into a craftsman's paradise. On Saturday and Sunday, the organization hosted their 40th Annual "Artistry in Wood Show and Sale" at the school, showcasing some of the area's top artistic talent.

A tradition of hunting

This weekend, many among us will take to the woods to take part in an annual fall tradition many look forward to every year. Wisconsin's gun deer hunting season is now upon us, and from November 18 through the 26, area sportsmen will be seeking their prize mount while area deer will be running for cover. To many, the annual season brings with it a variety of traditions that are often more important to observe than snagging a deer each year.
