Despite the weather making it feel otherwise, spring is just around the corner and with it will come a number of municipal elections. Spring elections for 2026 are set for April 7 with a number of races locally. To inform voters, and to give any prospective candidates time to submit paperwork, we decided to share what positions will be on the ballot in April and how to go about submitting oneself for candidacy.

On Saturday, hundreds upon hundreds of hobbyists, collectors and gift seekers flocked to Denmark High School (DHS) for a fun and unique holiday sale. That day, the Denmark FFA Alumni hosted their 3rd Annual Farm Toy, Railroad & Vendor Show in the school’s purple gymnasium featuring thousands of one-of-a-kind holiday gifts with something for everyone. The Denmark News stopped by to learn more.

For five decades now, the start of the Christmas season in the greater Denmark area has always meant one thing–the annual Denmark Lions Poinsettia Sale. This year was no different, with hundreds flocking to Denmark High School to stock up on the seasonal plant.

Last week definitively proved that, like it or not, winter weather is now upon us. While clearing snow out of the driveway and off of sidewalks is inconvenient for anyone, for some, it is all but impossible. Luckily, a number of caring and dedicated community members have taken it upon themselves to help shovel out those in need of assistance.

On Thanksgiving morning, Eddie Whipp’s hosted the 13th Annual Chicken Trot with dozens of dedicated trotters braving frigid conditions to take part! The event supports The Denmark Community Cupboard with over five carts full of items being collected along with monetary donations!

When the railroad opened in Denmark in 1906, it provided new opportunities for businesses to accommodate travelers. Ben Hendrickson was one of many who took advantage of this new opportunity by building the Union Hotel just steps away from the railroad depot on Railroad Avenue.

On Saturday night, I had the pleasure of attending this year’s second annual Denmark Christmas Tree Lighting Event on Railroad Avenue. Despite heavy snowfall, hundreds of community members made the trek out for a fun night of togetherness and holiday fun. For this week’s editorial, I would like to share my thoughts on the event and what I believe it demonstrates for the community as a whole.
