On Thursday, the Denmark Middle School (DMS) gymnasium played host to three back-to-back-to-back band concerts celebrating students’ musical achievements throughout the school year. The concerts were directed by Bill Dennee with a number of solos receiving accompaniment from Mickey Utrie.

Last week, following the news that State Senator André Jacque will not be seeking reelection this year, it was announced his District Director Nic Cravillion would be running in the GOP primary for Wisconsin’s first senate district.

This month, Denmark’s own James Grasee will be heading down to Texas to receive a national honor. From May 19 through the 22, he will be honored along with other top Edward Jones financial advisors at this year’s Momentum Conference in Dallas in recognition of exemplary performance and customer service. Last week, we sat down with Grasee to learn more.

Last Tuesday, hundreds flocked to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for an annual fundraiser showcasing a unique offering of unconventional food items. That night, congregants, supporters and the wider community came together for this year’s 20th Annual Charity Wild Game Feed featuring a “wild” assortment of food, prize opportunities and fun for all.

This Sunday, and five more Sundays throughout summer and fall, one and all are invited to head to a local park for a guided tour of one of our area’s most incredible natural wonders. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Wisconsin Speleological Society (WSS) will kick off another season of guided tours of Maribel New Hope Cave located in Cherney Maribel Caves County Park.

This month, in between assembling and refining each week’s issue of the newspaper, The Denmark News staff will be seen making their way up and down the hill downtown as a new and exciting chapter of local journalism begins. In the coming weeks, the paper will be relocating its offices to its new home just down the street at 107 Wisconsin Avenue.

The district will host a special community celebration to recognize exciting developments that mark a significant step forward in its growth and commitment to students. The event will bring together community members, staff, students, and supporters to celebrate both completed and future projects that will enhance opportunities across academics, athletics, and the arts. 

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Congressman Glenn Grothman visited the Mishicot High School Junior class between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Grothman is a U.S. Representative for District 6 of Wisconsin, which is the same district in which Mishicot lies.

On May 6, Mishicot School District hosted an exciting and educational STEAM Night at O. H. Schultz Elementary School bringing together students, families, businesses, and community organizations for an evening focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

With this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week being May 4 through May 8, 2026, the Mishicot FCCLA chapter decided to do something special for the educators in their high school. The FCCLA chapter works and dedicates its time to volunteering, career preparation, and community service. Many members of FCCLA pursue careers in education, training, hospitality, arts, and tourism.

The School District of Mishicot’s Spring 2026 Community update and newsletter highlights a period of growth, investment, and strong community support. A major focus of the update is the upcoming groundbreaking for the district’s Performing Arts Center and Commons project.

On April 30, a special moment of connection and support brought together Mishicot elementary students, staff, and high school musicians in a celebration of talent and encouragement. As the high school’s state-qualifying Solo and Ensemble singers prepared for their performance on May 2, the younger students had a unique opportunity to hear them perform and send them off with heartfelt well wishes.

Shoot’n For P, a non-profit organization founded by Nic and Becky Armbruster in memory of their son, Paxton Armbruster, and based in Mishicot, Wisconsin, set up a stand at the D3 Elite Meet held at the Mishicot Track. Shoot’n For P helps to spread awareness and mental health advocacy as well as promote suicide prevention among adolescents and student athletes.

Bee’s Emporium & Café is one business among many raising awareness of Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease, also known as non-tropical sprue, is an autoimmune disorder triggered by the ingestion of gluten. Ingesting gluten can lead to inflammation and damage in the small intestine, which must be cared for immediately. 

On April 22, the Denmark High School Student Council partnered with the American Red Cross to host their annual Blood Drive. The students were able to exceed their original goal of 45 units and collected a total of 57 throughout the day. Student Council members would like to recognize the students, staff and community members who volunteered and donated.

Last week, much ado was made in the local theater community with the announcement of this year’s Denmark High School (DHS) fall musical.

Last weekend, families and animal lovers of all ages got the chance to get an up-close look at a special kind of farm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Black Frog Farm in Maribel welcomed one and all for their annual Open House weekend where visitors could take a self-guided tour and meet all the animals face to face.
