Last Thursday, representatives from United Way stopped by Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark for a special collaboration with OneDenmark aimed at identifying needs and issues that are affecting the greater area. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more. 

Music lovers of all ages are invited to Denmark High School (DHS) on March 1 for a special performance showcasing amazing vocal talent. That afternoon, the Denmark Knights of Columbus Father Platta Council #4735 will host the renowned MacDowell Male Chorus in the school’s Performing Arts Center (PAC) for a concert that is sure to please.

Last week, members of the Denmark High School FFA were out and about spreading gratitude. On February 3, FFA members visited a number of local businesses and farms to “pop in and say thanks”. Last Monday, the Town of Glenmore Board of Supervisors hosted their regular monthly meeting in their Community Center near Shirley. A number of the meeting's topics centered around a potential new business in the municipality which has been described as a "Farm General Store". The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

On Friday, the Denmark High School Jazz Band ventured west to take part in this year’s UW-Stevens Point Jazz Festival where they had a chance to play for, learn and hear from top musicians in the field. Each instrument had their own master class as well as a group clinic with two professional musicians.

The Manitowoc United/Mishicot boys’ hockey team has built its season around grit and determination, according to player Jacob Wallander. As a program that was revived in 2021 after being disbanded in 2015, the team continues to focus on effort and growth rather than just wins and losses.

This past Saturday, February 7, the Mishicot Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organization sent five students to the Region VI Wisconsin Regional Leadership Conference at Dodgeland High School. Previously, two more students participated in online events for the same conference.

On Friday, February 6, Mishicot High School sent its wrestling team to Cedar-Grove Belgium to compete at the Conference Tournament. The boys’ and girls’ teams both came out with many first-place wins and overall podium placings. Both teams are coached by Head Coach Max Loberger and assistants Justin Kuss, Bailey Thelen, and Frank Koeppel. 

On Saturday, hundreds upon hundreds flocked to Neshota Park in New Denmark to take part in a unique walk in the woods. That night, the Friends of Neshota hosted their annual Candlelight Hike through the park with adventurers from across the area and beyond joining in for an evening stroll along the trail. The Denmark News joined this year's hikers to experience this yearly winter celebration for ourselves.

Last Monday, over 150 people gathered in a conference room at the Grey Fox Bar & Grill in Mishicot to discuss a growing issue that has recently exploded onto the local scene. While talks of potential AI data centers in our area originated to the west in the Greenleaf area, rumors of such a development are now circulating to the east in the Town of Mishicot.

The third entry in our new Downtown Denmark: Past & Present series takes us to the grand two-story building at 118 Main Street which has served a number of commercial, governmental and community needs over the last century.

On Thursday, representatives from numerous area organizations, businesses and the general community gathered in Village Hall to discuss a vision of a more united community.

During halftime of Friday’s home boys’ basketball game, the Denmark Dance Team recognized parents and celebrated their senior team members. Dance team members presented their parents with yellow roses before giving gifts to the four seniors and reading tributes to their time together. The Denmark Dance Team will be taking part in the WACPC State Competition this weekend in La Crosse.

Last week, we reported on a new one-stop shop in the Village of Denmark that will now be serving a variety of health and wellness needs from one location. What some may not know is there is a similar facility just to our north that also covers a wide range of full-body and mind-healing services under one roof.
