Maribel June Meeting

On Monday, June 12, the Maribel Village Board held their monthly meeting at the Community Center in the village park. First up on the "Old Business" portion of the meeting's agenda was an update on the village's use of Manitowoc County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Clerk Dale Bomski explained that Degroot Construction had recently completed the installation of four new fire hydrants throughout the village at a cost of $33,250.

Cooperstown June Meeting

Last Tuesday night, the Town of Cooperstown held their monthly board meeting at their Town Hall in Rosecrans. Following the call to order by Chairman Dave Blakeslee and the Pledge of Allegiance, the board unanimously approved the meeting's agenda as well as the minutes from previous meetings before proceeding into the monthly reports from village officials.

Circlefest 2023

Last weekend, hundreds of people from across the area and beyond converged on Circle Tap just west of Denmark. The occasion? Circlefest 2023. Circlefest is an annual “celebration of summer” held at the historic tavern since 1995 and has become a can’t-miss tradition for many. This year, Circlefest featured two days jam packed with games, music, food, drinks and, of course, fun. The festivities kicked off at 5:30 p.m.

Maribel Picnic this weekend

This weekend, the normally quiet and peaceful Village of Maribel is set to be teeming with thousands of visitors from far and wide for the annual Maribel Lions Picnic held at Village Park. The yearly Lions Picnic is an annual tradition that stretches farther back then anyone living can remember and is a summer highlight for many in the area.

DiMezza Farms

When one thinks of a farm, they usually imagine a large expanse of unoccupied land somewhere out in the countryside. What most would never think of is a house and yard in the middle of a village. One Denmark resident is determined to change that.

Village of Greenleaf?

Next week, residents of the nearby community of Greenleaf will face an important decision with potentially historic consequences. On Tuesday June 20, polls will open at the Town of Wrightstown Town Hall in downtown Greenleaf and residents will vote on whether they will stay a part of the township or strike off on their own as the new "Village of Greenleaf".

Our Savior's Wild Game Feed

Last Tuesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark held their 17th annual Charity Wild Game Feed at their church. That night, hundreds of hungry people from across the area gathered in a large tent outside where they took part in raffles, auctions and, of course, a top-notch meal featuring "unconventional fare". 

Way-Morr Music in the Park

Last week, the Way-Morr Lions Club kicked off their yearly summer "Music in the Park" program at Way-Morr Park, 14 miles southwest of Denmark. On Wednesday June 7, hundreds packed into the park for an evening of free music and fun. The concert series has become a summer tradition for many, with music lovers from all across the area and beyond converging on the quaint park every other week each summer.

Eaton June Meeting

Last Monday night, the Town of Eaton held their monthly board meeting at their town hall in Poland. Major accomplishments of this month's meeting included the instatement of a new Speed Limit Ordinance, the approval of building permits and the renewal of liquor licenses in the township.

Summer Reading Program in Denmark

Last week, Brown County Library made an exciting announcement for young readers in the Denmark area. Despite the continued absence of a library branch in the village, they will be offering their Summer Reading Program to young readers in a variety of "unconventional” ways.

Pickleball Tournament

Last Saturday, the Denmark Dinkers in partnership with OneDenmark hosted their first ever Pickleball Tournament in the new gymnasium at Denmark High School. The event featured eight elite teams of two squaring off in a battle of talent. The paddles were swinging across three courts as participants competed for the highest point total overall. Carole Sekora was crowned champion of Bracket 1 with Emily Simons achieving first place in Bracket 2.

Corpus Christi at St. James and St. Joseph

Last weekend, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville and St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown held special processions in observance of the Feast of Corpus Christi after weekend masses. After 4 p.m. mass at St Joseph on Saturday and 8 a.m. mass at St. James on Sunday congregants were welcomed to join in a reverent procession around the church.

Commencement 2023

On Sunday June 04, hundreds of students, staff, friends and family packed into the gymnasium at Denmark High School for this year's Commencement Ceremony honoring and recognizing the DHS class of 2023. This year's ceremony featured speeches from class members and staff as well as a guest speaker and the presentation of a number of honors.

8th Grade Promotion

On Friday, June 2nd, Denmark Middle School hosted their annual 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony in the new gymnasium at the high school. The ceremony served as a way for DMS Staff to celebrate their students and their achievements as well as send them off to their next chapter in high school. Hundreds of students' friends and family joined in congratulating the outgoing eighth graders and wished them luck as they transition to high school freshman.

Kindergarten Graduation

On Wednesday, May 31st, hundreds of friends and family gathered for a special ceremony honoring the achievements of some of the awesome young people in our community. That night, the Denmark Early Childhood Center (ECC) held their annual Kindergarten Graduation at the Performing Arts Center in the high school.

Brown County Breakfast on the Farm 2023

Last Sunday June 04, thousands of people from all across the area made their way to Collins Dairy near Wayside for a yearly tradition that is uniquely Wisconsin. That morning, Brown County Dairy Promotions hosted their annual Breakfast on the Farm at the dairy featuring a number of fun activities for all ages to enjoy.
