Owen Schacht is putting together a historic wrestling season, establishing himself as one of the top competitors in the state. Schacht currently holds an impressive 35–1 record, with his only loss coming in the semifinals at Bay Port earlier this season. He later earned redemption by defeating that same opponent at the Northern Badger Wrestling Classic, proving his resilience and determination.

In 2016, Mrs. Carrie Sand, a Mishicot High School Teacher in the English Department, created Mishicot’s Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). A few years later, around 2018 or 2019, she introduced Passion Projects. Passion Projects are a way for students to extend their passions towards the school and community. Mrs.

Recently, four local establishments have come together and found a new shared location in downtown Denmark to offer their varying services under one roof. This year, the former Trophy Case building at 128 Main Street will be the new home to Total Moxie Wellness, Souls Acceleration and Massage Therapy by Lana as well as the new location of the Denmark Community Closet.

This week, a local community service staple is proudly announcing they will be receiving a “BIG” boost next month as part of an area initiative aimed at making donor dollars go further. On Monday, the Denmark Community Cupboard (DCC) officially announced they are one of the fifty area nonprofits who have been selected as recipients for this year’s Give BIG Green Bay fundraising initiative.

Earlier this month, the nominees for this year’s Golden Apple Awards were announced with educators from across the greater Green Bay area being recognized for their hard work in their classrooms and dedication to their students. More locally, the Denmark School District made an impressive showing with 48 individual staff nominations and 4 team teacher nominations across the district.

Last Monday, Denmark High School senior Barrett Czarneski took part in the Brown County American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Competition at Pulaski High School. Following his first place finish at the post level in December, Czarneski once again found success, earning first place and advancing to the next level of the competition.

During their meeting this month, the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees officially approved the municipality's new Emotional Support Animal (ESA) policy after months of debate. 

This coming Monday and next, Denmark Connects is offering free courses on how to sign up for online educational opportunities through the Brown County Library. On February 2 at 1:30 p.m. and on February 9 at 6:30 p.m., Denmark Connects will be at the Denmark Community Activity Center offering assistance for signing up for “Gale Courses” through the Brown County Library System.

Earlier this month, students from Denmark’s Viking Academy (VA) “put their creativity and business skills to the test” when they took part in a project inspired by the hit ABC television show Shark Tank.

On Sunday, January 18, Mishicot hosted its annual youth wrestling tournament.  Competing in ages from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade, there were nearly four hundred wrestlers in attendance. Mishicot alone had over fifty wrestlers compete. Mishicot ended the tournament with a second-place finish as a team, with many individuals placing on the podium.

A familiar landmark in Mishicot is on a new chapter as the opening of the Grey Fox Bar & Grill at Fairway Inn & Suites aims to restore the community spirit that once made the area “the place to be”.

Harpt Lake is excited to host its 43rd Annual Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8. The derby goes until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 16306 Harpt Lake Road.

The West Shore Clay Crushers are welcoming students and families to learn more about their upcoming 2026 season as part of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), one of the fastest-growing high school sports in the nation.
