All Saints Christmas Program 2024

On Thursday, All Saints Catholic School presented a special Christmas program to showcase student talent as well as retell the true story of the holiday. That morning, the student body performed "Miracle at Midnight" in the church featuring music, jokes and a whole lot of holiday spirit. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

All Saints Christmas Crafts

Last week, All Saints Catholic School students helped spread holiday cheer with a special craft project. On Wednesday afternoon, students partnered with The Denmark News to help assemble and decorate over a dozen miniature Christmas trees to share with veterans housed at the Veteran Housing and Recovery Project in Bellevue.

DHS Winter Band Concert

Last Monday, the sounds of student talent and Christmas cheer were in the air in the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center. That night, the school's bands hosted their annual Denmark High School Winter Band Concert featuring classic sounds of the season alongside complex new numbers.

Knights of Columbus give back to All Saints

Following Thursday’s All Saints Catholic School Christmas program, the Denmark Knights of Columbus Father Platta Council #4735 had a couple Christmas surprises to share. Knight Jim Wavrunek was in attendance to make two presentations for the school. First, he presented a large check for $7,892 from this year’s KC Kwik Trip Car Wash sale to be used by the school for its needs.

DMS student shares musical talent

This month, a Denmark Middle School (DMS) 8th grade student was featured in a college-level performance showcasing young talent. On December 5, Kiara Cherney took part in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Percussion Studio Recital performing a self-written piece of percussion music. Last week, we sat down with Cherney to learn more about this opportunity and her compositions.

December 2024 School Board meeting

Last Monday, the Denmark School Board held their monthly meeting in the Denmark High School (DHS) Media Center. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and roll call showing all members present, the board unanimously approved the night's consent agenda consisting of the Treasurer's Report and the Minutes from their November meeting.

Big changes at Denmark Family Dentistry

Big changes are underway at Denmark Family Dentistry. This month, the Denmark institution is saying farewell to both longtime dentist Dr. George O'Hearn and longtime office manager Wendy LaTour as the two begin their retirement. This New Year, the one and only Circle Tap will have new owners who hope to continue the tavern's legacy of great food and refreshments, softball and fun for years to come.

Kris Kringle Festival 2024

Last Tuesday, the parish hall at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark was transformed into a holiday wonderland for an annual Christmas event for all to enjoy. That night, the congregation's 412 Youth Group hosted their yearly "Kris Kringle Festival" at the church featuring sweet treats, yuletide activities and tons of holiday fun. Neshota Bridge Informational Meeting

On Wednesday, representatives from the Brown County Highway Department and their consulting firm, AECOM, hosted a public informational meeting about the upcoming reconstruction of the bridge on Highway KB that crosses the Neshota River. Although the bridge in question is in the Town of New Denmark, the meeting was hosted in the Village of Denmark's Village Hall due to the facility having internet access.

Last Monday, the Village of Denmark held their monthly board meeting in Village Hall. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and roll call showing all members present, the board unanimously approved the night's agenda before moving on to comments from pre-registered members of the public.

Supporting Aging & Caregivers Luncheon

On Friday, hundreds of people gathered at Gatherings 43 for a special event aimed at increasing awareness about resources available to the elderly and disabled. That morning, Denmark Connects hosted their first-ever Supporting Aging & Caregivers Luncheon featuring representatives from seven area agencies sharing information about what resources and services they provide.

Winter Chorus Concert 2024

Last Monday, the Performing Arts Center (PAC)at Denmark High School was filled with the sounds of the season showcasing young vocal talent. That night, the Denmark Middle School and Denmark High School Choirs hosted their annual back-to-back Winter Concert giving their family and friends a chance to see their prowess and progress in person and hear some holiday favorites.

DENMARK HISTORY - Lake to Lake expanded Kiel plant benefitting Denmark

In 1983, the Lake to Lake Division of Land O’Lakes embarked on one of the largest building projects in its history. The company announced a $7 million project to expand its Kiel plant to allow better processing of whey. 

OneDenmark moves in

Last Thursday, OneDenmark invited one and all to join them in officially dedicating their new space which will soon become the Denmark Community Center & Library. That night, supporters gathered in the former Denmark Early Childhood Center (ECC) to celebrate the official transfer of the property from the school district to the organization and hear from members about the project ahead.
