Village of Denmark March 2024 Meeting

On Monday, March 11, the Village of Denmark held their monthly board meeting at Village Hall. Following the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call showing all members present, the board moved on to comments from pre-registered citizens. This month, one resident who is running for Municipal Judge in the upcoming election presented the board with a number of requests to prepare for the transition following the election.

Lenten Lunch 2024

Last Wednesday, one and all were welcome to join together in the Parish Hall at Our Savior's Lutheran Church for an annual tradition built around bringing community members of all faiths together.

Band Extravaganza 2024

Last Sunday, hundreds upon hundreds packed into the large gymnasium at Denmark High School for a yearly display of top-notch musical talent. That afternoon, the middle and high school bands hosted their annual "Band Extravaganza" featuring performances from students across six grade levels.

A toast to new water

On Tuesday, March 12, the Village of Denmark hosted a special ceremony celebrating their completed connection to the Central Brown County Water Authority (CBCWA) pipeline. That morning, representatives from the village, the CBCWA and other fellow authority member communities joined together at the Denmark Village Hall to "toast" the new partnership and the new water supply.

Shae Sortwell visits Glenmore Town Board

On Monday, March 4, the Town of Glenmore held their monthly board meeting at their community center near Shirley. While most of the evening's agenda was "business as usual", last week's meeting did have a special guest--State Assembly Representative Shae Sortwell.

Hotel takes shape

While the unseasonably warm winter has been a curse to local sportsmen, it has been a blessing to builders. Throughout the area, contractors and their teams have taken advantage of the unusually warm conditions to charge forward on their projects earlier than expected.

Village of Denmark Plan Commission meeting

Last Wednesday afternoon, the Village of Denmark Plan Commission held two public hearings followed by a meeting in the Village Hall conference room. Topics of discussion and action included permits for a new Tertiary Treatment Facility and the future expansion of the Olympic Village Trailer Park.

"Flock cameras" in Denmark

Recently, observant readers may have noticed a small, but significant, addition to the Village of Denmark. Last week, two "Flock cameras" were installed at strategic locations within the village with the intent of helping law enforcement better protect the community.

This year, a Denmark native is competing for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent and celebrate Wisconsin agriculture in a big way. Last week, the six finalists for the 77th "Alice in Dairyland" contest were announced by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

FFA Worker & Pie Auction 2024

Last Monday, the Denmark FFA and their supporters took to the DHS Performing Arts Center for a fun and unique fundraising tradition. That evening, the organization hosted their annual "Worker & Pie Auction" in the theater, raising thousands of dollars from generous supporters in attendance. The Denmark News was live on the scene to take in all of this year's bidding action.

5th graders present "Pirates! 2...The Hidden Treasure"

Last Thursday night, the DHS Performing Arts Center was swept away to the high seas as the Denmark Elementary School 5th Grade Class presented “Pirates! 2…..The Hidden Treasure” by John Jacobson and Roger Emerson to a packed house.

FFA Day on the Hill

Last month as part of "National FFA Week", several members of the Denmark High School chapter took part in a one-of-a-kind experience in Madison aimed at advocating for agriculture in state government. On February 19, the Wisconsin FFA hosted its annual "FFA Day on the Hill" at the state capital featuring over 200 FFA members and 43 advisors coming together for the future of Wisconsin agriculture.

Culver's launches "FFA Ambassador Program"

This year, in commemoration of National FFA Week, Wisconsin-based fast-food giant Culver's announced a new and exciting program aimed at recognizing outstanding FFA members and their communities.

Denmark Recital Night

On Monday, February 28, the Denmark High School Performing Arts Center was host to a one-of-a-kind collaboration concert showcasing displays of young choral, instrumental and spoken-word skill.
