While many may usually make plans away from home for the 4th of July, this year, a group of local organizations is giving area residents a reason to stay in town and celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary as a community. 

On Thursday, State Senator André Jacque announced he would not be seeking re-election for another four-year term representing Wisconsin’s 1st Senate District in Madison this November.

As the soon-to-be Community First Credit Union Community Center & Library continues to take shape in the former Early Childhood Center (ECC), OneDenmark has now set their sights on finding the perfect employees to help run it. Last week, the organization announced it was now looking to fill two positions, a full-time Community Center Manager and a part-time Community Center Maintenance Technician.

Last weekend, families and animal lovers of all ages got the chance to get an up-close look at a special kind of farm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Black Frog Farm in Maribel welcomed one and all for their annual Open House weekend where visitors could take a self-guided tour and meet all the animals face to face.

Last week, much ado was made in the local theater community with the announcement of this year’s Denmark High School (DHS) fall musical.

On April 22, the Denmark High School Student Council partnered with the American Red Cross to host their annual Blood Drive. The students were able to exceed their original goal of 45 units and collected a total of 57 throughout the day. Student Council members would like to recognize the students, staff and community members who volunteered and donated.

Bee’s Emporium & Café is one business among many raising awareness of Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease, also known as non-tropical sprue, is an autoimmune disorder triggered by the ingestion of gluten. Ingesting gluten can lead to inflammation and damage in the small intestine, which must be cared for immediately. 

Shoot’n For P, a non-profit organization founded by Nic and Becky Armbruster in memory of their son, Paxton Armbruster, and based in Mishicot, Wisconsin, set up a stand at the D3 Elite Meet held at the Mishicot Track. Shoot’n For P helps to spread awareness and mental health advocacy as well as promote suicide prevention among adolescents and student athletes.

On April 30, a special moment of connection and support brought together Mishicot elementary students, staff, and high school musicians in a celebration of talent and encouragement. As the high school’s state-qualifying Solo and Ensemble singers prepared for their performance on May 2, the younger students had a unique opportunity to hear them perform and send them off with heartfelt well wishes.
