Cooperstown board addresses EMS price increase

During last Tuesday's Town of Cooperstown Board of Supervisors meeting, much discussion was had about upcoming increases to the fees charged by County Rescue for ambulance services.

Saluting a local war hero

In honor of this year’s Memorial Day issue, we would like to share the story of a local hero passed to us by Mark Cherney of the Denmark Historical Society. Corporal Alvin A. Winnekens served his country with bravery and endured unthinkable suffering at the hands of enemy captors. Through news clippings and available records, we will attempt to recount his heroic tale.

Mishicot - Mishicot Solar Olympics Team competes well and comes home with many achievements

The Mishicot Solar Olympics Team proudly sent Ben Brice, Ben Backus, Gavyn Hagenow, Sam Dempsky, Adriel Maequez, Eva Boness, Tessa Kamien, and Elli Johanek to the UW-Oshkosh campus on May 6, 2026, to compete in ten events, all of which are related to either solar or renewable energy. The Solar Olympics Team is made up entirely of seniors, five of whom are returning members.

Mishicot - Mishicot Middle and High School Choir Concert celebrates student talent and senior achievements

The Mishicot Middle and High School Choir Department held its annual spring choral concert on May 12 featuring students in grades 6–12. The evening showcased the hard work, dedication, and musical growth of students throughout the year while bringing families and community members together to celebrate the arts.

Mishicot - Mishicot School Board meeting

On Monday, May 11, 2026, the Mishicot School Board held their monthly meeting in the Mishicot Library. There were 13 board and school members present with one attending virtually. In addition, 9 community members attended this meeting, all students at Mishicot High School.

DENMARK HISTORY - Community rallies to purchase new fire truck in 1971

In 1971, the Denmark Fire Department had a need for a new truck to help fight brush fires. The previous year had a very dry spring, and it was noted the department’s current vehicles could get “bogged down in some areas while fighting grass fires, leading to expensive equipment damage and making it difficult to answer other calls promptly”.
