WRIGHTSTOWN – One was a blowout victory. The other was perhaps a look at what could be as the season heads closer to the sectionals.

On Thursday, much of the world celebrated the start of a new calendar year. While each New Year is cause for a good deal of reflection on the year that has been, it also serves as an opportunity to look forward to the one that is beginning.

On Tuesday, December 23, the entire student body and staff of Denmark Elementary School (DES) gathered in the gymnasium for a special holiday send-off. That afternoon, the school hosted an assembly that featured music, games and the introduction of a brand new book vending machine. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.

Just before leaving for winter break, the students and staff of Denmark Middle School (DMS) celebrated an incredible and thoughtful achievement. On December 23, the school's Student Council commemorated the end of their second annual Adopt-A-Family fundraiser with a program filled with festive fun.

This year, The Denmark News is introducing a new, multi-part extended series focussing on the rich history of our community. Following the success of our Cooperstown Valley series, we have decided to turn our attention back to the Village of Denmark for a number of articles detailing the past and present of a number of buildings that can be found downtown. 

Throughout 2025, readers could find a number of articles about one of the community’s newest organizations–Denmark Connects. From educational events for local children, informational luncheons for seniors, “yarn bombing” and a variety of other initiatives, the group has quickly made a name for itself as a leader in community outreach and programming.

This holiday season, students at Denmark Elementary School (DES) once again had the chance to get all of their Christmas shopping done in their own school. In December, the school’s PTO, as well as staff and volunteers, transformed the school’s Media Center into a winter wonderland filled with gifts to purchase. Students could peruse the items, find great gifts for their loved ones and learn about concepts like pricing and spending money.
