Devilbears near the top of standings after 3-0 week

DENMARK – After a early season hiccup against Kewaunee, the Denmark Devilbears are back on track and clawing their way near the top of the Shoreland League standings.

FREEDOM – The Denmark varsity Legion baseball team had just one game last week but it made the most of it.

An extra-inning hit in the eighth inning from Cade DeLarwelle that scored Ozzie Enz was all that separated Denmark from Freedom as the Denmark Legion scored the 1-0 win on the road.

This past weekend, thousands descended on Maribel for a big event in a small town. On Saturday and Sunday, the Maribel Lions Club presented their yearly picnic with a packed slate of events and attractions featuring something for everyone. The Denmark News had a front row seat to the festivities to learn more.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the quiet hamlet of Curran was alive with excitement as eleven teams faced off on Father Bill O'Brien Field in the 41st Annual Curran Community Club Slowpitch Softball Tournament. The Denmark News was on the scene to witness this year’s tournament action.

On Friday night, the Denmark Devilbears welcomed one and all to Highridge Diamond for an evening filled with summer fun. That night, the hometown team hosted this year’s “Devilfest” with a variety of activities surrounding a great baseball match-up between the Devilbears and the Ashwaubenon Lookouts.

Next Sunday, July 12, one and all are invited to St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown for a free and fun outdoor concert. That afternoon, the church will present Michael Prusinsky and his acclaimed saxophone and vocal talents for an afternoon of music from 1 until 3 p.m.

A new chapter in senior care is beginning in Mishicot as Sycamore Lodge Senior Living LLC officially prepares to welcome future residents. The new assisted living community is now completing assessments for individuals interested in joining the facility and exploring their senior living options.  

The Mishicot Girls’ Wrestling program sent five individuals to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to partake in a girls’ wrestling camp at Indiana Tech. The camp focused on getting the girls ready for season in both folkstyle and freestyle, while still incorporating many fun activities.

Families throughout the Lakeshore area are invited to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics at the 6th Annual S.T.E.A.M. on the Lakeshore event. The free community event will take place on Wednesday, July 8, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lakeshore Robotics Education Center located at 2815 Meadow Lane in Manitowoc.
