Last month, Denmark’s own Jake Charneski completed his training to fly F-35 fighter jets in service to the United States Air National Guard (USANG). Charneski has been with the USANG for 13 years now and has traveled the country and world in their ranks. Last week, we spoke with him to learn more about his time in the service and his latest assignment that has brought him back closer to home.

DENMARK – It was only fitting that Kevin Konkol’s induction into the Denmark Devilbears’ Hall of Fame on Friday night came just before the team was to play the Kewaunee Chiefs.

Earlier this month, six local young shooters traveled to Mason, Michigan, for this year’s USA High School Clay Target League National Championships. Last week, we spoke with Mickey Fels to learn more about their journey.

The final two agenda items of last Monday’s meeting of the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees related to funding for park improvements and upcoming street repair plans. The two topics ended up being intertwined in the discussion as board members shared their views on what their immediate and long-term priorities should be as a municipality.

Next Saturday, July 25, one and all are invited to Veterans Memorial Park in the heart of the Village of Denmark for a beloved annual summer tradition. That afternoon and evening, Denmark Fundraising, Inc. (DFI) and their supporting partners will host its fourth iteration of The Denmark Pulls with hours of pulling action and community celebration to enjoy.

Last month, we reported on a new event coming to the streets of Denmark this fall that is sure to be a wild ride. The first-ever Denmark Derby soapbox race will charge down Jorgenson and Pine Streets on September 26 with a ton of fun to be had for all. In order to properly prepare for the festivities, an informational meeting has been set for next week.

Last week, Denmark’s own Alex Mancheski was officially welcomed as an officer of the Stevens Point Police Department. In a ceremony attended by family, friends and fellow officers, Mancheski was sworn in by City Clerk Susan Pagel before his father–Aaron–pinned on his badge.
