On Thursday, multiple area fire departments responded to a house fire in Pine Grove. The blaze destroyed a home on the northeast side of Stage Coach Road between Pine Grove Road and Trestle Road. On June 30, the Denmark Community Summer Reading Program held their first event of the summer at Denmark Elementary School! The extreme heat moved the event indoors where young readers turned in their reading logs, completed crafts and took part in yoga in the turf gym with AOT Yoga. Friendly volunteers from Bank First helped everyone cool down with complimentary ice cream treats.

On Sunday, St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown hosted Michael Prusinsky for a fun summer afternoon of music and community. Prusinsky delighted attendees in the shade of the church’s cemetery with his top-notch saxophone and vocal skills. The parish will host “Spice” for a fundraiser concert this November at Gatherings 43.

Earlier this month, we reported on a potential new housing development that is being planned for the southwest side of the village near the Denmark water tower. As expected, this development was met with a good deal of negative reactions online with many people commenting their concerns and anger at the news on our post.

The Denmark School District began building a consolidated campus in the mid-20th Century on the north side of the village. The high school was the first to open on the campus in 1964 followed by the elementary school in 1970.

This past weekend, the Mishicot High School Trap Team sent nine athletes to compete at the National Championship. Five of those athletes competed as a team, and all nine competed individually. Trap Nationals are held in Mason, Michigan for the USA High School Clay Target League.

Music lovers have plenty to look forward to this summer as the 2026 MAGIC Summer Concert Series continues every Wednesday evening throughout July and August. The popular community tradition brings live entertainment, local food vendors, and family-friendly fun to Mishicot each week.

Last Tuesday, the Denmark Knights of Columbus Father Platta Council #4735 hosted their annual Appreciation Night for their members, families and supporters in the All Saints Parish Hall. During the proceedings, the Knights reflected on the past year for the organization and swore in new and returning officers for the coming term. The Denmark News was in attendance to learn more.
