42nd Annual Blindman's Volleyball Tournament

This past weekend, Rooster’s Coop in rural Morrison was bustling with hundreds of supporters coming out to help a great local cause. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Rooster’s crew hosted the 42nd Annual CP Blindman’s Volleyball Tournament with over thirty teams facing off in the modified volleyball and plenty of other fun to go around.

Inspired to give back

For over 115 years now, Dufeck Wood Products has been a manufacturing fixture of the Denmark community, crafting an array of fine wares from their facility on the corner of Maple and Jorgenson Street. Along with being a prominent business, the family-run firm has left a profound impact on the community in many other ways.

Denmark Teaching Denmark next Saturday

On Saturday, March 14, one and all are welcome to come together for a unique community event aimed at bringing people together and sharing unique talents. That afternoon, Denmark Connects will host a "Denmark Teaching Denmark" event at the former All Saints School with a wide array of free classes available for a diverse range of interests.

In case of emergency

When emergencies occur, communities count on a number of apparatuses to respond and come to their aid including police, firefighters, EMTs and government bodies. Recently, the Village of Denmark has been taking steps to ensure they are more prepared if disaster were to strike with the appointment of Brandon Ackley as the new municipal Emergency Manager.

Downtown Denmark: Past & Present - 116 Main Street

This week, our historical trip around the Village of Denmark has taken The Denmark News back home to our offices at 116 Main Street. The large structure has towered over downtown for over nine decades and has known many different purposes in that time. Let us now explore the building that has been home to a brewery, a warehouse, a village hall, a library, an eye clinic, a hardware store and more.

DHS Ice Fishing Club at State

On February 20 and 21, the Denmark High School Ice Fishing Club took part in this year’s Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Association (WIFA) which was held on a number of lakes along the Wisconsin River between Stevens Point and Wausau.

5th graders rock the stage

Last Tuesday night, the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center (PAC) was transported back in time as Denmark Elementary School (DES) 5th grade students presented an evening of rock and roll hits from the 50s and 60s as they staged “Rock and Roll Forever - How it All Began” to a packed house.

MacDowell Male Chorus takes the Denmark stage

On Sunday, the Denmark Knights of Columbus (KC) Father Platta Council #4735 hosted the acclaimed MacDowell Male Chorus for a special concert celebrating America in the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center.

NJHS Soup and Cereal Drive

The Denmark Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently had a very successful Soup and Cereal Drive. Over the course of two weeks, we collected well over five hundred cans of soup and cereal boxes for the Denmark CHOW program. CHOW weekly gives food to families in our community, and they have recently seen a shortage in cereal and soup.

8th Grade Basketball State Champions

On February 21 and 22, the Denmark Middle School 8th Grade Basketball Team competed in the Wisconsin State 8th Grade Tournament achieving a flawless 5-0 record over the weekend with both final games extending to overtime.
