Obituary - Renier, Marcia Kay

Marcia Kay Renier (nee Holsteen), age 76, passed away the morning of February 18, 2026, with her children at her side.

Marcia was born in Superior, Nebraska on January 14, 1950, the only daughter of Clifford Eugene and Donna Lee Holsteen (nee Michaud).

OneDenmark Update - Community Center taking shape

One of the most anticipated local news stories of 2026 is the ongoing transformation and eventual unveiling of the Community First Credit Union Community Center which is slated to open its doors to the public this fall. While the opening of the Denmark Cobblestone in 2024 saw a return of hotel services to the village for the first time in decades, it was far from the first establishment in the community to offer them. In fact, there was a time when numerous small hotels and inns could be found in the village and throughout the countryside with three in downtown Denmark alone.

VOD issues warning over scam calls

Last week, the Village of Denmark took to their Denmark Bulletin email update service to warn residents of a potential scam. The message warned the village had “been made aware of a scam call received by a resident in which the caller ID displayed the Village Hall’s main phone number”. The caller allegedly made false claims that the resident had taken out a large loan in Texas.

DHS Student Council Crush Drive

Recently, the Denmark High School Student Council undertook their annual Crush Drive which coincides with Valentine’s Day. Students could choose to purchase a Crush for one of their peers with three flavors denoting their relationship. Strawberry was for a “crush”, orange was for a “friend” and grape for when “things were a little bit complicated”.

Heart of Champions: 6th grade boys win State title

With grit in their hearts and belief in each other, the 6th grade boys’ basketball team captured the State Championship this weekend — and in doing so, captured the pride of an entire community.
