DENMARK – The first four minutes of Tuesday night’s Denmark boys’ basketball game looked eerily similar to the four previous contests.

FREEDOM – The legendary tennis player Jimmy Connors used to say that he never lost a match, he just ran out of time.

On Thursday afternoon, the cameras were rolling at Denmark High School (DHS) as a dedicated team of students worked together to broadcast their very own live news program to the masses. For several years now, The Denmark Dispatch has been reporting on all things DHS with regular new segments being produced by the school's multimedia class and released online.

Towards the end of this month's meeting of the Village of Denmark Board of Trustees, issues surrounding the Olympic Village mobile home community were addressed. As reported in earlier editions of The Denmark News, the recent expansion project that is set to double the number of units in the park has created and exacerbated a number of problems for residents who cite poor communication with management as one of their chief concerns.

Next up on our look back at the downtown Denmark of the past is a lot that no longer hosts a building. 106 Main Street is now home to the side yard bar of DD's Saloon but the parcel has served a number of uses throughout our town's history including family home, post office and pizza parlor.

On Saturday, hundreds flocked to the Maribel Sportsman’s Club for the 37th Annual Cottontail Classic. Throughout the day, hunters took to the woods to bag their rabbits with a number of other activities, prizes and food and drink being featured.

While the recent warmer weather has been a welcome development for most people, the swings in temperature create a number of issues for area roadways. Throughout our area and beyond, pothole season has arrived with divots appearing in a number of roadways. In Denmark, potholes on Main Street and De Pere Road have recently created hazards for motorists and headaches for work crews as warmer weather rolls in.

Recently, the topic of potential AI data centers has spread rapidly across the greater area. Last Tuesday, the conversation officially reached the Town of Cooperstown during their monthly Board of Supervisors meeting with board members and residents offering their thoughts on, and research into, the subject.

Prior to last Monday's monthly Village of Denmark Board of Trustees meeting, the municipal Sex Offender Residency Board was convened to address a request from a registered sex offender to locate within the Village. Due to the sensitive nature of this topic and out of concern for their family, we have elected to not include the name of the applicant in this article.
