John L. Reinke, 92, Kewaunee, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the same home he was born in. On April 11, 1934, John was born to the late John A. and Frances (Spitzer) Reinke. John graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1952.  He served in the Army Reserves from 1957-1963. 

Bonnie Jean Larsen, 70, of New Denmark, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on the family farm early in the morning of July 23, 2026. To know Bonnie was to know and experience true goodness and pure love. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend and will be deeply missed.

This month, a dedicated team of local young people and adult chaperones ventured deep into the American south on a mission to help others and grow in their faith. From July 11 through the 19, members of One Degree Youth Ministry and their supporters made their way to Lake Charles, Louisiana, for seven days of community service, reflection, prayer and team bonding.

On Saturday, hundreds upon hundreds of people crowded into Veterans Memorial Park in the heart of Denmark for a yearly display of mechanical might. That day, the Denmark Pulls took centerstage once again with Denmark Fundraising Incorporated (DFI) hosting the tradition for the fourth consecutive year. The Denmark News was on the scene in the park throughout the day to learn more.

On Sunday, crowds packed the streets of the village for an annual tradition celebrating all things Denmark. That morning, the Denmark Lions Club hosted their yearly parade through town featuring a variety of local businesses, organizations and characters. The Denmark News was stationed in the heart of town to take in the procession for ourselves.

Since 2010, the Maribel First Responders have been performing a vital and life-saving service for the people of the greater Maribel area. For 16 years, this dedicated team of volunteers have been the first on the scene in countless emergency situations where every second was critical. Now, they are hoping to grow their ranks and continue their mission of service for years to come.

Last week, Junque in the Trunk lent a big hand to the ongoing Denmark Community Cupboard (DCC) Cereal Challenge by donating a whopping 80 boxes of cereal collected during their latest “Make and Take” event for kids!
