Obituary - Salzsieder, Kenneth

Kenneth L. Salzsieder, age 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1962, to the late Le Roy and Verna (Schultz) Salzsieder. Ken graduated from Denmark High School in 1981 and worked at Natural Beauty for many years.

Obituary - Laper, Mary "Polly"

Mary Elizabeth Laper, age 79 of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Polly was born on October 29, 1946, daughter of Reginald “Rex” and Mary (Geimer) Swoboda of Denmark WI. She was united in marriage to Don Laper on December 30, 1995, in Fairwater, WI.

Obituary - Kuehn, Daniel Sr.

Daniel Lee Kuehn Sr. age 80, of Denmark, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. Daniel was born on May 9th, 1946, in the town of Algoma, Wisconsin, to the late Alvin Kuehn and the late Elva Laura Longley. Daniel married Arlene Mildred Krerowicz on October 23, 1965. Shortly thereafter, Daniel enlisted in the United States Navy.

Obituary - Kozina, Elizabeth "Betty"

Elizabeth “Betty” Kozina, age 69, Town of Franklin, passed away June 4, 2026 at her home. The daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Hruska) Kozina was born May 14, 1957. Betty worked for Packerland Packing for several years, and made many friends during her time there. She enjoyed going out to eat, doing crossword puzzles and dancing polka in her earlier years. 

Obituary - Duckart, Jean Clarie

Jean Claire Duckart, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was born in 1930, in Angelica to the late Adolph and Viola (Baster) Martin. In 1959, she married Benedict Duckart in Green Bay. He preceded her in death in 2014. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Denmark and the Denmark VFW.

Bridge out in Eaton

For more than a month, motorists traveling on County Highway P through the Town of Eaton have been greeted by barricades, orange barrels and large detour signs as a section of the roadway has remained closed to traffic. School Board approves new food service company

This September, as Denmark area students head back to school, they will be greeted by new food in the district cafeterias. On May 27, the School Board approved a contract with a new food service provider--OrganicLife--marking an end to a decades-long partnership with Chartwells.

June Dairy Month with Fairview Pastures

For our first-ever June Dairy Month issue of The Denmark News, we wanted to feature a local family dairy farm we believe showcases the character, values and spirit that make operating such a venture possible. Luke Wavrunek is a fifth generation dairy farmer and has been at the helm of Fairview Pastures for just over five years now, producing milk on the same farm he grew up on.

June Dairy Month - Brown County Breakfast on the Farm 2026

On Sunday, thousands flocked to Tinedale Farms in Wrightstown for an annual tradition celebrating local dairy producers. That morning, the large farm hosted this year’s Brown County Dairy Promotion’s Breakfast on the Farm featuring a delicious dairy breakfast as well as a range of activities for all to enjoy. The Denmark News ventured west to learn more.
