DENMARK – Good baseball can take many shapes. Bashing home runs is one way to score runs, but doing the little things can also result in runs and wins.

One thing that doesn’t change – no matter how a team elects to play offensively – is solid defense and good pitching are a must.

LUXEMBURG – One hole. Ten balls in play. That’s what the Denmark boys’ golf team’s WIAA Regional finish came down to on Tuesday afternoon.

Whenever there is talk of the best and/or most influential teachers in the Denmark School District in recent years, one name is part of every conversation. Bill Dennee has spent over two decades at the helm of the Denmark Middle School (DMS) Band shaping young talent and leaving a lasting impact on his students and his coworkers as well as the greater community.

Last Wednesday, the Denmark High School (DHS) Performing Arts Center was host to an evecelebrating student-athletes and their future competing at the next level. That afternoon, eleven of the school’s athletes were recognized for their athletic abilities over the last four years as they signed their intentions to continue their sports in college.

Last Wednesday, the Village of Denmark received some new and unique temporary public art installations celebrating America. That day, Denmark Connects and their Crochet Art Club mounted multiple patriotic displays at a number of public locations throughout town.

Last Tuesday, the Maribel Lions welcomed new and returning officers during the club’s annual Fry-Out at the Maribel Community Center. Newly-elected President Seth Radue was officially sworn in by Wisconsin Lions District 27-B1 Governor-elect Barb Leictfuss and Vice District Governor Scott Scovronski. Radue will assume the helm of the club after this year’s annual Maribel Lions Picnic on June 27 and 28.

Last week, the Friends of Neshota Park joined with some local young people to help remove an invasive plant species and beautify a great local park. On Tuesday and Thursday, groups of volunteers helped pick and bag garlic mustard from Neshota Park in order to allow native wild flowers to grow and flourish. We stopped by Thursday morning to learn more.
