Our next entry in our Downtown Denmark: Past & Present series brings us to 204 Green Bay Road. The two-story tavern perched on the hill at the start of Green Bay Road has been wetting the whistles of patrons for over a century and currently hosts Rookies Bar & Grill.

Editor’s Note: Mark Johnson is a graduate of the Denmark High School Class of 1970 who has spent the last fifty years restoring log homes. The house his grandfather lived in that is referred to used to stand on North Wall Street on a site now used by United Cooperative as a parking lot. We thought it was an interesting story to share with our readers.

Women from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church have been crafting quilts which have been donated to numerous organizations and individuals including: Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Veterans of Upper Michigan and Wisconsin, Green Bay Veterans Manor, the Boys and Girls Club, a homeless shelter in Minnesota and graduating seniors from the congregation.

On Sunday, much of the Christian world celebrated Easter Sunday with a variety of traditions and rites. In the U.S., Easter means egg hunts, church services, family gatherings and, for some reason, rolling eggs on the White House lawn. For this week's editorial, I would like to examine some peculiar Easter traditions from around the world.
