On Saturday, I kicked a hornets nest by posting photos of Saturday’s Hog Wrestle in Maribel on our Facebook page. While I knew the subject was certainly controversial, I did not anticipate the wave of angry reactions and “debate” it would inspire. For this week’s editorial, I would like to clarify what it means when the newspaper publishes something and share my thoughts on the reaction.

On September 25, 1947, tragedy struck as an early morning fire nearly destroyed Denmark High School. 

This weekend, the Town of Eaton marked a major milestone when they officially celebrated 150 years of incorporation. To commemorate the occasion, the municipality organized a day of celebration on Saturday featuring music, food, fireworks and fun. The Denmark News was in attendance to celebrate with Eaton and learn more.

RIVER FALLS – The Denmark Legion baseball team put itself into a tough spot after day one of the Class AA State Legion Tournament.

Next month, Gatherings 43 will be host to an evening of top-notch comedy as three comedians take the stage to spread some laughs. On Saturday, September 19, the venue will host three hilarious stand-up comedians for a one-of-a-kind show in our own backyard. Last week, we spoke with the show’s featured comedian–Denmark’s own Richie Zaborowske–to learn more about what is in store.

RIVER FALLS – The only winner at Friday’s Class AA State Legion Baseball Tournament was the weather.

Last Monday, the Denmark School District hosted its Annual Board of Education Meeting in the high school media center. As usual, the proceedings were sparsely attended with only four community members and this reporter joining members of the board for votes and discussion.
