On several dates over the next two months, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting scheduled training exercises in the Town of Glenmore. The operations will center on an address on School Road with additional staging and training taking place at the Glenmore Community Center.

Registration is now open for this first-ever downhill open-class soap box race on September 26 with some teams already getting a head start on their custom creations.

This past weekend, Maribel’s newest tavern introduced itself to the greater community in a big and “messy” way with an event never before seen in the area. On Saturday, Kroll’s Corner Pub & Grub presented an afternoon of muddy mischief with their first-ever “Hog Wrestle” in the heart of town. On Saturday morning, The Denmark News ventured out to Sugarbush to meet up with the members and supporters of the Titletown Threshing Club for this year’s local celebration of traditional farming. That day, the organization hosted their 15th Annual Thresheree on the Donald Jossart Farm where farmers of all ages came together to harvest “the old-fashioned way”.

On Sunday, clays and shots filled the air in the northeastern corner of town as local marksmen took part in a long-standing Denmark tradition. That day, the Denmark Rod & Gun Club presented this year’s 47th Annual Les Johnson Memorial Shoot with over 100 competitors facing off in top-notch trap shooting action. The Denmark News stopped by for the final rounds on Sunday afternoon to learn more.

On Saturday, outdoorsmen and women from across the area and beyond converged on Maribel for a celebration three-quarters of a century in the making. That day, the Maribel Sportsman’s Club commemorated their 75th anniversary with a day and night filled with festivities, prizes and fun for all to enjoy.

On Thursday, the Denmark Community Summer Reading Program (DCSRP) hosted their yearly “Movie Night in the Park” on the playground behind Denmark Elementary School (DES) featuring a variety of fun activities to celebrate summer and young readers. The Denmark News stopped by to learn more.
